Web Startup Consulting

If you are bootstrapping a web-based business, you have probably thought carefully about what type of IT infrastructure is most suitable for your website, considering you are on a limited budget. Many simple, informational websites can get away with using shared hosting for a few dollars a month. However, more functional websites – high traffic blogs, bandwidth-intensive multimedia/video websites, databases, and others, may require more usage of specific resources such as memory, CPU, storage space, or bandwidth. There are numerous options – cloud computing, collocation, virtual private servers, dedicated servers, and so on, as well as countless software configuration decisions to be made. Convasis does not only offer advice about making the most cost-effective decisions for website hosting, but we are also able to provide clients with up to a 50% discount on certain plans available through our partners.

Can’t afford to outsource your website at all? Depending on your website requirements, you may be able to build it yourself, without even any prior programming experience. Your business can save a lot of money by leveraging the power of existing code and content management systems instead of developing everything from scratch. Through the Convasis Web 2.0 Institute, we can train you and your colleagues how to set up fully-functional, dynamic websites in a matter of hours that you will be able to manage and modify without touching any code. Visit the Convasis Web 2.0 Institute website to see a schedule of upcoming courses, or contact us if you would like to learn more about our private training services.

Website Development

Our Strengths

Website development is one of Convasis’ key strengths. We have an excellent team of LAMP coders and graphics design experts who can take on almost any job – social networking websites, online stores, databases, video sharing sites, blogs, you name it. Our technical specialization includes LAMP (Linux/Apache/MySQL/PHP), Javacsript (including the JQuery library), AJAX, CSS, Photoshop, and Illustrator. All of this work is performed strictly in-house at our Boston office. Any web development services that you purchase from us include free consultation as well as a detailed analysis of specifications prior to engagement. The analysis report will ensure you that we both fully understand your requirements for the project and the estimated time frame for delivery.

Working with Convasis

Sample Website Development TimelineConvasis uses a unique project management strategy that we describe as modular development. First, in our analysis report, we itemize our price quote to the smallest details so you know exactly how certain features of the website will impact your budget. This allows you to get your site up as quickly as possible using the minimal features in Phase 1 and start collecting feedback from your visitors; meanwhile we will start work on additional features in a separate development environment while you can start running your business! Of course, it is likely that you may want to make changes to your website along the way, and we can certainly account for that. Following the itemized list of features, you will be able to split up the work into multiple phases, and we will engage in a new contract for each individual phase as soon as you’re ready.

What's Included

Every website we produce is fully dynamic, meaning that it is based on a content management system that allows you to maintain your website without any technical knowledge. At the least, you will be able to change most of the text, images, and menu items on your own. Any database-related sections that we build for you will also be manageable from the admin interface (a separate webpage where you can login securely).

While many website developers claim to build everything from scratch, we know that isn’t practical. We take advantage of the multitude of existing source code available online to help you get the most out of your website for the investment that you make. We generally recommend using 3rd party source code for minor features, but in either case we will always discuss these decisions with you prior to engagement.

All of our website development services include:

  • Internet Privacy Premium Package. Click here for details.
  • Full or partial theme development. See the Theme Development section for details.
  • Basic framework for search engine optimization (SEO). This includes proper URL structure (and htaccess configuration if necessary), page titles, headings, and certain tags.
  • Admin control panel pages for modifying all or most of the website content without the need for technical experience.
  • Flexible/negotiable payment terms.
  • Free webhosting on our servers, depending on the size of the project.

Theme Development

Designing custom themes for content management systems is one of Convasis’ primary service offerings. Our portfolio includes custom themes for CMS like WordPress, Joomla, and DZOIC Handshakes, among others. All services include free mockups with multiple revisions to guarantee that your expectations are completely satisfied. If you do not like the mockups, you won’t pay for them.

Larger projects may also include thorough wireframes to create a complete understanding of the user interface requirements before beginning the project. Depending on the size of the project, we may conduct market research, customer interviews and surveys, and other planning to maximize the user experience and minimize the need for future re-design.

Localization

If you need to serve multiple global regions, Convasis can help internationalize your website. Our localization services include the ability for users to switch between different languages as well as translation of your website content. Typically, it is unlikely that any major programming will be required for this process. However, we can also optimize your website to display different content based on the visitor’s country.

Our translation services are available in Spanish, French, Russian, and Chinese. It is recommended to combine this service with search engine optimization for the corresponding languages.

Search Engine Optimization or Re-Optimization

Convasis offers thorough market research and keyword optimization services as part of its search engine optimization (SEO) package. Market research involves a study of how your visitors find information online, what companies are competing against you for specific keywords, and what strategy is most appropriate for you in terms of attracting search traffic. The next step is to make technical adjustments on the website, if necessary: clean up tags and metadata within your content, refine permalinks (URL structure), optimize internal links, and streamline the content structure on your website. Finally, we can offer advice regarding the integration of your SEO strategy with the rest of your online marketing efforts.

Along with every SEO service, Convasis provides a detailed quantitative report to compare your website’s performance on search engines before and after our services as well as relative to your competitors. Every job features a money-back guarantee if our SEO efforts are unsuccessful. Pricing is flexible and depends on your budget and the number of pages on your website.

Need search engine optimization in other languages? Our staff is fluent in Spanish, French, Russian, and Cantonese.

Data Aggregation

Whether you are building a database or conducting market research, Convasis can automate data collection from numerous online sources and integrate it in a central database. We can automate data collection from nearly any public database, as long as their terms of service do not forbid this type of activity. We can also set up your website to automatically update the collected data on a regular basis if the source data changes. One example of our previous work includes the creation of the largest and most comprehensive database of healthcare companies worldwide, complete with over a dozen fields of data.

Below are some of the many possible applications of this service:

  • Market trends: combine company stock profiles with other information about the business such as press releases, news, and social media activity, creating a powerful market research tool for identifying correlations between stock performance and what Internet sources and users say about the company.
  • Video analytics: consolidating data about a video from multiple data sources (video sharing websites, Facebook, and Twitter) and keeping track of number of views, ratings, what people say about the video, how many times it is shared on Facebook, how many people Tweet about it, and so on.
  • Auto-reply to opportunities: continuously search specific websites for job posts and auto-respond with a personalized message with your personal or company pitch. Filter posts by specific categories, keywords, price/salary ranges, and so on.
  • Archiving: search certain websites for content (such as news, blog posts, or videos) matching keywords of your choice and save it in your own database along with corresponding data fields.
